El autor presenta primero el contexto físico y cultural del antiguamente e importantísimo Santuario de Pachacamac, para después mostrarnos el Templo del Sol, en sus aspectos constructivos, arquitectónicos, viales, funcionales, jerárquicos, astronómicos, ceremoniales e ideológicos. Se trata de un templo pleno de manificiencias y sorpresas, con terrazas que dirigen la vista hacia el mar, en el ocaso del solsticio estival al celebrar la Gran Fiesta o Capaq Raymi del Sol. Orientado también a la constelación del Amaru (escorpio), reverenciada por los Incas como la gran serpiente celestial.
